Michael Papesch

ANZSN PQC Committee Consumer Representative for Kidney Health NZ.

Michael Papesch is a member of the ANZSN PQC Committee as a consumer representative on behalf of Kidney Health NZ’s Consumer Council. He was first diagnosed with renal disease in 1996, was on dialysis 2005-2006, and received a transplant in August 2006. Since then Michael has been the Chair of the then Wellington District Kidney Society, a consumer representative and then Chair of the then Central Region Renal Network, a consumer representative on New Zealand’s National Renal Advisory Board, and a Board member and Chair of Kidney Health New Zealand.

Michael has recently retired from his role as a Deputy Chief Executive of the NZ Customs Service where he led the policy, legal and strategy function in NZ Customs. Michael has held a range of senior policy positions in the New Zealand Government in his 37 year career in the New Zealand public service.
